About Fuzz Productions
Founded in 2001, Fuzz Productions is an award-winning digital agency headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. Approximately 80 engineers, designers, strategists, and product managers deliver digital transformation services through user-centric design thinking and cutting-edge technology, serving leading brands and innovative startups including Shake Shack, United Technologies, AB InBev, CBRE, Peloton, and Potbelly Sandwich Shop. Beyond custom design and development, Fuzz also offers a proprietary product, the Koala platform, which enables restaurant chains to manage branded online ordering, marketing, and loyalty programs across kiosks, web, and mobile apps, with deployments at Wingstop, Taco Cabana, and Papa Murphy's. This hybrid positioning across consulting-grade delivery and proprietary product is a distinctive strength of the firm.
About Monstar Lab
Monstar Lab is a global digital product agency operating under the mission of "Unlocking Innovation Through Diversity." At the time of this transaction in 2019, the group comprised approximately 1,200 engineers and creatives across 15 countries and 26 cities (including Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Hanoi, Manila, Dhaka, Copenhagen, London, Berlin, Dubai, and New York). Monstar Lab's differentiation lay in its global sourcing model, deploying the best talent from the optimal location to serve each client as a strategic partner across product planning, development, growth hacking, and market localization and expansion, a truly distinctive global operating model.
Synergy
This transaction delivered the decisive missing piece in Monstar Lab's global strategy of establishing a strong presence across all three major markets: Asia, Europe, and North America.
Monstar Lab had already built robust capability networks across Asia and Europe, but the group had yet to establish a US-based delivery team capable of serving American enterprise clients with best-in-class local engineering and design capability. The acquisition of Fuzz delivered this capability at once, bringing a proven management team, approximately 80 specialist professionals, and a first-tier US client portfolio anchored by Shake Shack and AB InBev. With this combination, Monstar Lab rapidly established a meaningful North American business foundation.
The transaction held equal strategic significance for Fuzz. Joining a group with more than 1,100 professionals worldwide meant that the Fuzz team could pursue larger engagements and more specialized offerings than would have been possible independently. The ability to capture both global and domestic opportunities was substantially enhanced through group membership, creating a durable platform for continued growth.
Continuity
Fuzz continues to operate under the leadership of CEO Nathanial Trienens and the existing management team, with its brand, organization, and client and partner networks maintained. The two companies share vision and values, and the stated plan at closing was to grow the Fuzz team in both size and reach by leveraging the scale of the Monstar Lab group.
"We are very excited to have Nat and his team join Monstar Lab Group. With Fuzz we are not only partnering up with a team that can deliver world-class digital solutions for well-renowned brands like Shake Shack, United Technologies and AB InBev. We also get a strong and proven management team that shares our vision and values and that will allow us to expand our presence in the US even further."
- Hiroki Inagawa, CEO, Monstar Lab, Inc.
"Joining the Monstar Lab Group is a significant milestone for Fuzz, opening channels to new markets and partners. Our ability to pursue both global and domestic opportunities is enhanced greatly by the support and access to talent that the group provides. I couldn't be more excited to work with Hiroki and the Monstar team in executing our shared vision."
- Nathanial Trienens, CEO, Fuzz Productions
